Profundezas
Profundezas is the result of a new chapter of self-exploration and growth for Emma’s musical career. After leaving her music dreams dormant for a few years, a move to Mexico during the pandemic brought it all back to life. Emma met her mentors Loli Molina and Hernan Hecht, and a beautiful partnership was formed, paving the way for the creation of this next EP. Each song touches on an aspect of the influences that she holds dear. Mulher Pelegrina mixes classic Brazilian beats with a folk backdrop to pay homage to the forces that guide us. Winter Waters is an English language take on bossa nova, recounting the nostalgia of a love that could have never been. Finally, Profundezas blends Spanish and Portuguese into a coming of age tale where our memories help our souls realize who they are meant to be.
EMMA
EMMA, the debut album from Emma Platais, is an expression of her Brazilian-American identity that blends the different Latinx cultures that have touched her life. She writes in Spanish, Portuguese and English while incorporating her many geographic influences such as samba, cumbia and folk.
